JSC “Sea port of Saint-Petersburg” enhances personal safety requirements
In pursuance of the action plan aimed at the increase of safety culture level in the company, starting from September 1 JSC «Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SPSP, the company of UCL Holding) enhances requirements related to the use of personal protection equipment (PPE) in its territory. The company shall strictly control observance of the rules of PPE use and strengthen responsibility of labour safety specialists, heads of departments, employees, visitors and people accompanying them.
The Regulations which establish the rules do not allow partial use of PPE. The document states obligation of the personnel to use PPE in the company’s territory at all times. The rules should also apply to the visitors and it is caused by objective factors – the port is a high-risk facility.
Since the beginning of 2017 the company’s expenses for labour safety activities have increased by 23% as compared to the same period of last year. The plans of SPSP call for further strengthening of efforts aimed at protection of the workers’ life and health, as well as for gradual involvement of all the company’s personnel in the process of safety rules observance. JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of the international transport group UCL Holding) – the largest operator rendering services on handling of all dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates modern multi-purpose terminals for general and bulk cargoes as well as specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes and containers.
